Certificate of Achievement in Substance Abuse Counselor Training Program
Courses in the Certificate of Achievement Program in Substance Abuse Counselor Training are designed to help prepare students for employment in social service agencies, mental health centers, correctional institutions, rehabilitation facilities, community health education organizations, private practice, or other settings which provide substance abuse/addiction education, prevention, and/or intervention and treatment.
Courses may be used as electives or for continuing education by students or professionals in education, corrections, law enforcement, and the justice system, addictions counseling and treatment, social work, nursing, radiology, or emergency medical care.
The AAS degree and Certificate of Achievement in Human Services programs share common courses, so that students may easily complete requirements for the AAS degree while completing a certificate program. Entry level courses have no prerequisites or program entry requirements. Students choose to begin at any time by registering for courses. However, academic advising prior to beginning any course of study is highly encouraged. Most coursework may be completed online, through interactive video, and/or by independent study on a case-by-case basis.
At least 15 hours of coursework must be successfully completed at Great Basin College. Substitutions/credits for prior, equivalent coursework may be permitted, at the discretion of the Department of Health Sciences and Human Services and/or the 澳门新甫京娱乐游戏在线下载 Registrar. An overall 2.0 average is required for completion of the Certificate of Achievement.

Human Services Program Summary
The Human Services Program at Great Basin College was established through a three year Rural Health Outreach Grant (#D04RH06803) in 2008. Now in its fifth year of existence, the program has exhibited significant growth as shown in the data below. In 2010 the Certificate in Substance Abuse Counselor Training was added to the existing Associate of Applied Science in Human Services and the Human Services Certificate programs.
